Honestly, pretty disapointed. The developers are misguiding, they made 2 games with this title and yet there is still no rain. I think I'll just refund it at this point.

This game combines so many attributes of what one could consider a fantastic video game. Controls? Tight. Soundtrack? Banging. Characters? Diverse. Items? All unique. Levels? Beautiful. Difficulty? Punishing. Hotel? Trivago. Okay, time for the serious part. With over 550 hours under my belt, a 100% in achievements, and calling it one of my favourite roguelites ever, I come back to this review to cement my opinion further. An incredibly unique gameplay loop reinforced by good traditional roguelite aspects make this such an engaging and rewarding game to play. I absolutely love just jumping into a run, surviving against crazy odds and using my knowledge to prevail and become more powerful than you could imagine in a video game. Lets get down to the F.A.R.T.S Score! F for Feel: S. Smooth movement, combined with fast-paced action, varying enemy types, powerful bosses and elite enemies aimed to exploit your weaknesses, leaves this game never having a dull moment at all. If you crave high-octane killing action and becoming an all-powerful god, this is the game for you. But only if you earn it! (or get lucky enough :P) A for Art: A+. My favourite game that goes for the "simple but impactful" design. Colours are vibrant, but textures aren't very detailed - a lot of things are mostly one or two colours, but that's all this game needs. With so much happening on-screen, the developers really nailed a balance of detail and simplicity to make sure that it never feels messy even though there are piles of dead corpses on the ground and particle effects everywhere. It's just really coherent! There is also a grand sense of scale, the world extends for ages beyond the playable area, making you really feel lost on an alien planet. The enemy and character designs all fit well together and are really unique as well. R for Replayability: S-. With many items and unlockables, there always seems to be a new goal in mind for a completionist. And if you have done all that, then there's Eclipse mode for the hardcore player. Or simply trying to go for a high score is very fun. Or using scrappers to control your build and harness as much power as you can from the game. Or this. Or that. You get the point. There's always another way to play the game! T for Tunes (OST): S+. Oh my god, what can I say about Chris Christodoulou's soundtrack. It's my favourite of all time, thats for one. The music absolutely binds this game together. From an intriguing and dark intro cutscene track, to the more upbeat and encouraging menu theme, to a spacious, explorative stage theme, to a boppin' electronic boss theme to a fast-paced prog-metal boss theme, TO A STRAIGHT UP JAZZ-METAL FUSION FINAL BOSS THEME WITH SAXOPHONES, back to touching, thought-provoking acoustic guitars and pianos. What the hell. This soundtrack is an complete rollercoaster trip to another universe and back. Chris is an absolute musical genius and I love him to bits. Thank you so much for making this game whole. Absolutely cannot praise it enough. S for Story: A-. There is some story here, and it's pretty encouraging and relevant when you think about it. It ties in with the previous game mostly. Its essentially a rescue mission from the gang's previous encounter with a demigod - and this time, the god is even more pissed. Reading the logbooks also provides some really nice worldbuilding for this universe, set in the not-too-far future. Explore and see what you can piece together, its more than you might think! Final Score; S. Top-tier roguelike gaming right here folks. It has it all. Read my first statement above, because it still holds true 100% to this day.

Don't play this game at night

Risk of Rain 2 is so addictive that I do not recommend to play this game at night. You always launch a "last run" and you end up at 4AM. This game did fuck up my sleeping schedule more than Netflix. Amazing job, with a great balance between new content based on what the community want and new content from their hands with regular updates. Basically a 3 man's studio being more professional than much larger studio slot machines.
