I'm genuinely convinced the queue times are a way to stretch my playtime to 2 hrs so that I can't refund it later. Edit - Let me say this before I get any more comments on my steam profile, as I've had to delete like 40 so far, the game is GOOD, okay? It is fun! But I DESPISE waiting 45min - 1 hr to play a character I made on a server that had a 0 player queue 12 hours ago. What little gameplay I have experienced is overshadowed by the fact that Amazon, home to the one of the largest and most powerful servers in the world, is having server issues with a game.

Amazon owns AWS, the biggest Server farm in the world, they host Netflix, Facebook, Twitter and Twitch. Yet they can't spare enough server capacity to launch their flagship game. Very disappointed.

I called out some dude selling overpriced bags in global chat and started telling people how to find better prices in trade post by viewing all territory prices in top right of trade post menu and his entire company/guild said they were mass reporting me and I got a 24 hour automated ban for abusive behavior. I wish I was making this up. Literally 24 hour banned for helping players not get scammed. - EDIT: 3 years later and the game is in the worst state it has ever been. We are now at the point where you cant even casually complete endgame content both PvE and PvP without using specific meta builds to nuke everything and everyone instantly. There is now AIM LOCK which completely breaks muskets making them guaranteed hit scan weapons that just chunk health. Void Gauntlet blade does over 4k base damage per swipe PLUS elemental damage and DOTs. You can't do endgame raids without linking every last piece of gear in chat and getting the meta slaves' approval. NO INSPECT PLAYER OPTION BTW. People can run tank builds with no damage that just makes them LITERALLY UNKILLABLE godmode which is a DISASTER when forts, wars, and many dungeons just require a player to stand on an area and survive. The economy is just so awful and will never recover. You can't even reach endgame without paying for the expansion and it's only once you reach endgame you realize that it's a complete waste of time investment. This is a literal scam. Avoid anything AGS.

Game is great. Allows you time meditate, do the dishes, exercise, walk the dog, cook, wash the car, read a book, learn to play piano etc while waiting in queue. If only a company that owns the biggest server farms in the world developed this game, maybe then....oh wait.

I just noticed I have played 152 hrs. in the past two weeks. Obviously wrong. I also noticed my wife moved out. My youngest son now has 3 more children. My Oldest son joined the French Foreign Legion. Not sure why the electricity is still on. Also, I noticed my hands look kind like a skeleton's. Maybe I should have taken a few breaks.

I bought this game because it didn't have a monthly fee and my wife enjoyed the beta, so I wanted to share in the experience and help her out with stuff if she needed it. I feel like this game was designed and planned by executives who only know about video games from watching their kids play. The game is like the twisted reflection of a cool MMO in a fun house mirror. The live-action combat mechanics are mostly fine, but everything is built from the ground-up around the worst-feeling foundation of movement out of any MMO I've played. The weapon trees are good in theory, but they are astonishingly restrained and hollow in practice. None of the abilities are actually interesting. I do not know how they managed to make an entire video game with so many buttons where not even one of them was fun to press. That said, the PvE is fine, but quickly stales since you'll only ever need 2 or 3 skills. The rest of your skill points will be negligible passive effects to "increase your damage by 10% under X conditions" or whatever. Boring, low-level design stuff. Specializing in multiple weapons is a cool idea, but largely an illusion of choice since they scale based on specific stats and it would be sub-optimal to specialize in multiple weapon types. The PvP is just not for me. I see what they were going far, but macro-scale skirmishes are much less interesting to me than the nuance of micro-scale duels or arena-style PvP, where every input feels significant. I was hopeful that despite the focus being on faction warfare, small engagements would still be fun. You might be able to squeeze blood from this stone, but considering how trivial all the skills make aiming, how you spend more time battling the camera than your opponent, and how shallow the movement mechanics are, there's just not much here to sink your teeth into. The skill ceiling is not going to be very high. The game looks good graphically, but for a "New World," it is suspiciously similar to every other fantasy game based on Medieval Europe. The types of enemies I've encountered in my 20 levels and 16 or whatever hours are: regular animals, zombies. Lastly, the gathering professions were fun and novel at first until I chopped down my 500th tree and realized the only reward for doing so is that the next 1,000 trees I chop down can be slightly bigger. This must be some sort of Satanic bitcoin mining operation. Between fast travel expenses, extremely limited inventory space and storage being localized to certain towns, it feels like these design choices are meant to cause you real, physical pain.

DO NOT BUY. Amazon allows players to mass report each other and grant undeserved 24 hour/permanent bans without justification. I REPEAT. MASS REPORTS ARE GRANTED BANS AUTOMATICALLY FROM PLAYERS. You can literally kill another player once and his company can mass report you. OR you can tell someone they're a dummyhead poo poo and he can have you mass reported by his virgin friends. DO NOT buy this game unless you agree with this type of abuse. Billion dollar company can't afford GM's. Also one of the worst launches in gaming history. Zero enemy variations. Boring combat. Chat function operates like Minecraft. Dungeons are horrifyingly boring. This game will die in 2 months. Check back when they sell server transfers for $49.99 and add the Swimming DLC for $9.99. YOU literally cannot swim. You walk to the bottom of the ocean/lake like Metal Super Mario. I wish I could refund but the game forced me in queue for 5 hours and made me ineligible. TLDR: dont buy in its current state. I returned to WoW.

Good game with fun machanics, although quite a few bugs and you can get banned from saying boobies!
