Feb 2, 2025 It's still strong and captivating. I think the direction they took is creative, except for the Ollie part, which was a bit obvious—but that’s just my opinion. Doey was an interesting character, and the tapes and notes provide some reasoning behind his turning point. However, that part felt rushed. In fact, all the new characters have felt rushed overall (though this is the least problematic issue).
The second problem is the gameplay:
This game is supposed to be a puzzle game. However, this chapter barely has any good, creative puzzles. It feels like they wanted to shift the game more toward action and lore at the cost of losing the puzzle aspect. The TL;DR of the gameplay is basically: Spooky walking simulator, Intense running simulator, Frustrating stealth simulator, Occasionally some talking with characters for the purpose of lore (not that I have any problem with that), and encounters with enemies, and boy those encounters can be terrible.
That's because the game has multiple game breaking bugs and weird features (or also bugs who knows):
Tbh It was fine until Yarnaby's stealth sequence (from that part everything went downhill real fast). My problems with this part: His AI is so buggy, sometimes we looked at eachother in the eye and nothing happened sometimes he started running at me from the other part of the map, also he has a teleporting mechanic wich would be fine if he wouldn't tp next to you every time you go through a door it's just gives off the feeling that he knows and oesn't know where you are at the same time. This part had a bug where after I had crawld through the metal parts and the scanning station Yarnaby would just look at me frozen for like 2 sec and the randomly kill me through the wall, this had happened multiple time (which felt devastating after the third), one time we also fell out of the map.
After the chase sequence in the next section I had some fps problems so I restarted my game however it didn't spawn me where the checkpoint was rather at the end of Yarnaby's chase sequence with him standing frozen before him falling into the pit, the only problem with this is that the Mission: "run" and the loud music got stuck in my game until I got to the gas mask part. Terrible experience
The next game breaking bug I found was a the part with the gas mask, where after getting to the room with the pugapillar the game let me in the room with the power supply and the brain thingy and I took out the power supply before I should have, then went back to put in the code (cuz I thought It would do something different) and then somehow as the door opened the power thingy clipped into the door which went inside of the wall and I had no chance of getting that out of there so I had to restart and do the whole thing again (luckily I remembered the code).
The Doctor boss fight went relatively smooth except on thing, most of the robots didn't kill you instantly and just dealt some damage however there was one partticular robot at the end of a hallway after the battery which for some reason kills you insantly. I don't know if it was different in any way from the others but it felt weird that he could oneshot you.
Doey's chase sequence was also far from perfect, on my first attempt I somehow died on one of the right turns while Doey was far behind so I have no idea how he got me but the worst part is that this section has a terrible checkpoint spot, I don't know why it's like this but I could hear him start chasing me while I was still in the loading screen. If I didn't start running as soon as possible he basically killed me on an instant, one time I even loaded into a jumpscare.
As for Doey's boss battle, the fact that every time you die you have to scan your hand pull the lever and then wait for the door to slowly open just to get into a cutscene before the fight starts is horrendous not to mention the fact that for some reason this part has some real optimization problems. From a stable 140 fps it dropped to a maximum of 28 fps for the whole boss fight. Besides these flaws the fight itself was meh, like how am I supposed to know that the nitrogine tanks can stuck into his body, also then hand attacks from the ground can get you stuck between them and that's gg. Also he sometimes randomly choses not to follow you then teleports somewhere near you which can mess up your plan on luring him to the right place.
There was also a bug where sometimes the character just decided to stand up in a vent and clip through the upper part of it letting me see the layout of the map from outside. It happened twice at different locations and it ruined the mood for sure.
I don"t remember which section it was but there was a part where 2 wooden planks blocked a hole, and you had to tear them off however I removed the upper one first and for some reason it fell in a way that it prevented me from removing the other one, blicking me from moving forward. I tried again in the same order and it happened again.
Also the game had this weird optimization issue where every time I opened my inventory my fps dropped to half (from a stable 140 to 60-70), restarting the game fixed it most of the time (except from Doey's fight).
Overall this game as it is right now was a huge dissappointment fo me. I loved the previous chapters and I was looking forward to play this one as well and I don't know if I just got insanely unlucky with the bugs or what, but due to the unreasonable amount of bugs that appeared I couldn't enjoy it and just wanted it to end already. It really saddens me because I wanted it to be good and tried looking at it positively even after the first few bugs but right now it's just sad!
I just needed to get this off my chest. To anyone who read through my experience—thank you!

All the reviews are saying how BUGGY the game is, yet deck-riding the studio and still giving and botting a recommended review
-People recommending/reviewing the game without playing -Boss didn't load for an entire level/fight -Fell through floor infinitely in one spot -Flash-banged from horrible lighting CONSTANTLY -Spawn camped by a boss -Another Boss teleported and would forget how to track you -Floating hand -Unclear controls, as not properly put in the Controls UI page -Grabbing items/hitboxes didn't work for one boss fight and wonky in general (WAY worse than other previous games) -Audio breaking constantly for effects and randomly super loud restart -Horrible save points -Subtitles randomly break/only appeared for 2 seconds for VERY long dialogue -Save mechanics sometimes didn't work -Multiple important puzzle pieces didn't load if you had to reload because the game was bugged and keeping you from finishing that level/room -Collectibles would re-spawn when already found on reload -Missing fire texture on one of the boss deaths -HORRIBLE vignette on a sheep mini-boss -One boss mechanic still working AFTER it was killed (TV) -Unable to skip cutscenes cause reload points would be before doors, etc. -Level design not clear on where you go next half the time ✨ ReCoMmEnD tHe GaMe ThOuGh✨ 10/10 For real though, Steam should be investigating the reviews under here. There is NO way half of the positive reviews for this chapter are real. Multiple reviews of people recommending who haven't played it and even admitting so in their comments. EDIT/IMPORTANT NOTE: saying I played 0 hours, when I played 6 in my review wtf. Evidence to Direct VOD link on my Twitch or YouTube (same as my steam name) (as again hypocritical/fair to think I might've done the same since I just ripped people for doing that)60 votes funny

Chapter 4 is a piece of dog crap. Its like there is 2 different buildings for this studio. One building lives in the sunny nice side of the neighborhood where they design the story and the characters. The other building lives in the hood where they constantly get shot at while trying to code this game because that is the only excuse for why this game is so buggy. Never seen such a promising story be thrown away by a game that is literally unplayable. I love the story and how they built it yet the last 2 chapters have been puzzle simulator and bug infested parts that make you question what you were even trying to accomplish in the first place. 10/10 would kms again

This chapter is the buggiest one yet. You can accidentally softlock yourself and have to start over. Mob never should have released it in this state. Wait for them to patch it before you buy it.

This DLC is insanely scuffed
One boss never spawned
One boss kept running into a wall
One boss kept teleporting
I ran into so many soft locks in this game due to dumb bugs. A vent got blocked because I pulled off a wooden plank in the wrong order, somehow making the other one impossible to remove. My hands kept launching across the map, dragging me in random directions. The maps were a mess... broken areas, objects spawning wrong, missing walls, falling through the floor, and lighting glitches that made everything BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN.
The only saving grace was the incredible story, stunning animations, and top-tier voice acting.

ill be honest and say the story actually is amazing, another great chapter ofc. a little less scary but its been an amazing game so far.
why i specifically "DON'T RECOMMEND" has nothing to do with the essense of the game itself
this chapter is unfinished, when you are trying to be immersed in a horror game experience. me having to reload at least 25 checkpoints to avoid GLITCHES that cause the game to be unplayable is ridiculous
i couldn't even defeat the final boss, my game was busted and i couldn't finish no matter how far i loaded back, that's how bad the glitches are.. i had to watch someone else play the game i payed for to get the finale experience.
if i could refund i would tbh for this chapter.

For some reason, the game looks and feels a lot lower budget than chapter 3. If you play this you'll see what I mean.
- Random objects being unrendered
- Smiling critters getting stuck
- The flare gun shoots a Roblox fire ball
- I had to reload a save after I couldn't interact with a crucial puzzle piece
- WITHOUT SPOILING a certain thing was supposed to spawn in a section of the game and didn't, causing the part to be insanely easy and underwhelming This was fixed
- WITHOUT SPOILING (again) there was an object that I needed to get in a certain amount of time, or else I'd die and it was in the roof. So all I could do was stare at it as my character died.
-The lighting sometimes goes crazy and you'll see nothing but white on your screen because of how bright it is
SPOILER WARNING (and HUGE bug) : When I killed the doctor and got the omni hand, I went down a hallway which ended up being the gas chamber that you do an hour before. The door behind me locked and now I have to do everything up to that point all over again, the game is broken.TAKE THE CABLE CAR WHEN YOU KILL THE DOCTOR!
After finishing the chapter I can confidently say that the final 30 minutes is AMAZING. That doesn't take away that the majority of this chapter for me has been underwhelming and buggy.

An absolute bug fest. At first it was funny little things that wouldn't bother me much, but, beware spoilers of the most bugged scenes: right before the final chasing sequence of Yarnaby, where he's supposedly following you around while you try to open all the doors, he got bugged inside a room and that whole sequence just seemed pointless. Towards the end with the doctor robots that would get stuck with the ones that were still, that would get inside the "safe area", would get stuck on doors making you unable to continue, that was just awful. To top all of, the final chasing scene of Doey, it run at 2fps, and no matter how many times i tried it got bugged, even to the point of pushing me out of the scene into the void , all those things combined just made me stop playing and leave. I didn't pay 15€ for an unfinished game that's not even playable, and even if they fix it, i just won't play it anymore. So tired of buying half baked games full price.

TLDR
If you're a fan of the lore, then I guess you should play this one, but if you're looking for a well designed horror game, this is really not gonna be the one for you
The game is filled with boss encounters that aren't the least bit challenging or scary, and at least when I played it, still had quite a few bugs even after multiple patches, though it seems like at least some of those have been addressed in the latest patch
I feel bad leaving such a negative review because it seems like MOB is genuinely working really hard to address some of this stuff, but I gotta be honest about the experience I had
Where is the horror?
Poppy Playtime has been very good about having big encounters that feel genuinely terrifying. But I can honestly say that there wasn't really a single moment where I was even the least bit nervous while playing Chapter 4. Part of that is that the boss designs themselves just aren't really all that scary, but a bigger part is that the encounters themselves don't ever make you feel like you're in any real danger. Literally every one except for Yarnaby takes multiple hits to actually kill you, and even the final boss can be dealt with by shooting him in the face with flares after he grabs youPlease stop with the scavenger hunt puzzles
Like Chapter 3, basically every puzzle is some form of "find the hidden doo-dad in the convoluted / poorly lit area*, and require very little thought to solve otherwise. I'm not expecting puzzle design on the level of Portal 2 or anything but it just felt like this stuff was designed to pad the gameplay time rather than present an interesting challenge.Bugs
I played this before the Feb 4 patch so just keep that in mind. Yarnaby spawn camped the hell out of me after I died once in the computer room, and while it wasn't impossible to deal with, it felt really obnoxious to try and find the precise set of thigns I needed to do to prevent it. He also on multiple occasions killed me when I was in a hiding spot despite not having been alerted to my presence already. My understanding is that the Feb 4 patch may have addressed these issues but I haven't tested that out for myself yet During the chase sequence with Yarnaby, if I died, the game would crash and not reload my last checkpoint, just hanging on a black screen. I tested it out a few times and it happened almost every time During the last Doey encounter, bro got stuck in a wall and I couldn't complete the encounter so I had to reload my save.10 votes funny

Chapter 4 introduces a total downgrade after the rich atmosphere and gameplay of Chapter 3.
It feels like Chapter 4 attempts to be a nostalgic experience with how bland it makes going through Poppy Playtime once again, similar to its initial release. Mob Entertainment cannot seem to find an adequate balance between gameplay, level design, and narrative experience.
Chapter 4 has a lot of problems. Lighting in most of the levels does not render properly, mostly blinding you throughout the experience. I can only imagine how terrible it is for low-spec devices because, clearly, the highest setting is not something this game can easily adapt itself to. On the other hand, speedrunners will find it enjoyable, as many levels do not render properly. You can easily move out of bounds and even die simply because the game refused to render some portions of the map properly. It is even more irritating in a chase sequence. It doesn't end there—sometimes, the game even refuses to add monsters to levels. It was quite disappointing to see that I skipped a whole cat-and-mouse chase sequence because I did not even realize the game forgot to add an entire monster, Yarnaby, in it.
The entire gameplay loop does not bring anything new to the table. It is the same perpetual cycle of jumping, shooting, and running. At this point, it feels like another attempt to squeeze the final drop of mascot horror.
Narrative-wise, the writers have done a phenomenal job expanding the story further, and the voice acting has improved a lot. However, the game's unending attempts to leave a cliffhanger aimed at keeping the player in suspense do not work. There is literally nothing to look forward to. The antagonist, who only appears at the end of the game once again, tries to persuade the players to feel more curious about the connections between the characters. Normally, such a twist could work if it actually had an impact on the story. I can already see that this whole story arc will end with a "You were my X, so this is my reason behind my villainy." What was further disappointing is the fact that the game does a relatively poor job developing one of the evil characters who caused much of this story to take place. At the end of the day, you have The Doctor, a "god" of the facility, questioning your morality and going down almost too immediately for you to feel threatened by his presence.
It is honestly better for Mob to wrap up the story and finish the series with the next chapter. The "endless releases with tidbits of story that will keep the audience at the edge of their seats" trope, unfortunately, does not work with Poppy Playtime any longer.

It is alright, the animations are goofy and some strange graphic issues but the story is good however predictable, and the monsters see you through walls, also some bits are very confusing.
