Wreckfest 2Wreckfest 2
Wreckfest 2 is everything I loved about the first game but with more detail, every dent, scrape, and flying bumper looks better than ever. The crashes are so realistic that I swear I SAY "OOF" everytime just watching them. If you love chaos, destruction, and the sweet satisfaction of sending your friends into a concrete barrier at 100mph, this is the game for you. Also, the damage modelling is so good that it perfectly replicates what my wife's driving does to her real car. 10/10 would recommend (and also wouldn't trust her to drive my in-game cars)

This isn't an early access game, it is a skeleton. I supported and enjoyed the first one through its' early access, but this one will need several more years of development to flesh out to an actual game, I would estimate at least 4 or 5 more years. Yes, I know this is early access, but I played everything this game has to offer in 13 minutes. No race modes, no music, 3 tiny tracks, 4 different cars and zero customisation. I was bored to tears after the first race. I did the other 2, just to say that I did them. This is a tech demo at best and I am surprised they went into early access like this.

I dont recommend the game in it's current state. Runs like crap, crashes, barely any frames, crashes when you hit buttons, etc. Defo will be getting better as time goes on though. They really gotta work on the game

Currently I can recommend it only if you want to: - support the developers financially - save some money by buying it early Why? Even for an early access the game has very little content: - 4 tracks (+ mirrored version I believe) - 4 cars - singleplayer: quick race against up to 23 ai drivers - multiplayer: matchmaking didn't work for me, but joining via server browser worked - no music - besides some colors no car customization - and lots more unfinished and unpolished content

Running at super low frame rates. My gaming rig surpasses the recommended specs in every area. Reinstalled the game. Updated drivers and nothing.

LAUNCH DAY WARNING: This is what I'd label a DEMO. I've never, ever come across an Early Access title as barebones as this - it's a very unpolished demo of I think a pretty promising base game I'd sure love to play IF it were available. it isn't. on Day 1, the big launch day for the first follow-up game to the now-legendary WRECKFEST brand, THQ Nordic released Wreckfest 2 as barely a game. THQ Nordic / Embracer Group had sales of about 4.16 billion USD in the fiscal 2023-2024. and to thank the fans, they had it so that Wreckfest 2, the sequel to the millions-selling first game launched as barely a game at all. if it were a free demo it'd be seen as unpolished. there isn't music. at all. or car portraits in your garage (for your four cars, in total - same number as available tracks, though one of those tracks is a blank test arena. neat.) so IF this were a free playtest we had to sign up for I'd say "Oh, cool - this looks good. seems to run well, I like the new sounds, I like the new physics. You're on the right track with this one. Keep at it. We'll see how it goes with the next beta test in what, half a year?" but since this cost 25 bucks American, on -20% SALE, consumerism morality requires me to warn this: POTENTIAL DAY 1 BUYERS: You are NOT getting a game. You're getting a rough demo of what seems like could be a cool game some day for your hard-earned money. Can't tell you what to do, but DEFINITELY be aware of how little there is - DEFINITELY do research. YouTube it up before you purchase. I just don't go for the "Yeah it's bare, but chillax! it's just 25 bucks! What's wrong with you? Lighten up!" argument. Because for one, it's not an indie made by a guy in his closet or something - this is a major AA sequel to a beloved game that's surely sold millions by now. and second, it's not "just" any amount of money. you are the CONSUMER. they NEED you. and this is YOUR (or failing that, your PARENTS') finite money. you deserve to spend it on a purchase that you can be confident in. And for this (or almost any) price, I seriously don't see this as acceptable. the game itself looks promising, but we're not your ----ing playtesters, again: we are your CUSTOMERS. if we all suddenly simply stopped buying your products, you'd be in a lot more trouble than we would be. why would you do this to us? why risk so much on such an important title for you? had you offered a free playtest, I would've taken the offer and given you free feedback. but this? your CHARGING me for this? I heard this called a "scam" in the boards. I won't say it's that - I won't say "Scam", I'll just say "Scum". just an unbelievably short-sighted and scummy nonstart for this sequel to such a beloved hit game. "Early Access Game - Get instant access and start playing; GET INVOLVED WITH THIS GAME AS IT DEVELOPS." = "Pay for our rough beta and do our bug testing for us. in 2025 we don't PAY for playtesters, we CHARGE our customers for it. Who's gonna say no? everyone LOVES Wreckfest 1! easy money for us, right?" Ain't modern gaming grand?* (*yes. it can be. but not like this. this demo seems absolutely fine. but as a PURCHASE this isn't one I'm satisfied with even a little. this is both such a shame and so shameful. IF this is all some horrible glitch and the wrong beta version was sent out instead of the real game, I'll try THAT and get back to you. I sadly don't see that as the problem. I see 2020's Gaming Scum all over this.)

In it's current state this game is VERY early access. I'd keep playing Wreckfest 1 while you wait for 2 to mature.

I know a guy who has climbed Mount everest, had an audience with the Pope, was there when they dispatched of Osama Bin Laden, split the atom, created a black whole, and he said all of that was easier, than getting the Logitech steering wheel to work on this game

Well, to be perfectly honest, and in my humble opinion, without intending to offend anyone who might hold a different perspective, while also considering this matter from various angles, and without condemning anyone’s views but rather aiming for objectivity, and taking into account every valid opinion, I honestly believe I have nothing to say.

ONLY 5 tracks. NO championship. single race of three laps ONLY. Online multiplayer ok but same tracks and full of people who just hit you until you crash out. Totally not fun at all.

To all of the negative reviews: I'm sorry but how can people be complaining when they know it's 1. an unfinished game (publicly stated too) 2. early access specifically to get feedback from the player base and finish the game It doesn't make sense to complain about a game that still needs funding and feedback to make it great like it's supposed to be. If you want a finished game go back to WF1 and wait for 2 to be done and quit crying about it.

No wheel support, Multiplayer broken, Only 4 cars and a handful of tracks. What a waste of time.

It says it's playable on steam deck, it is not. I tried both on the SSD and SD and it will freeze my steam deck and I have to force restarts my whole system. The 40 minutes of game play is me waiting to get past the frozen loading screen which I never did. Looked pretty fun, but never got to play it.

I don't recommend buying the game for now. This game isn’t fully "cooked" yet—but my GPU, on the other hand, is cooked. My 3080 Ti is struggling for its life when playing on medium settings because the game always runs at full FPS. Don't get me wrong—the game runs fine and looks gorgeous. However, the inability to limit the framerate in the settings keeps my GPU at 100% utilization, which affects other programs like Discord, YouTube, and Plex. The petty issue that annoys me the most (which I’m sure will be fixed soon) is that I can’t map anything to my B/O button on my controller because it’s also the cancel button for key mapping. I usually use X/SQUARE and B/O to shift gears, and without that setup, I can’t play the game properly. This game has the potential to be great, but as it stands, it’s not finished. Right now, it feels more like a beautiful tech demo—but it makes me excited for what’s to come. *Edit 4/3/2025" They Fixed the key mapping! I can shift my gears like I want now!

I'm a little puzzled why this early access was released. It is EXTREMELY early, essentially a tech demo of the engine. There is very little content, currently: 4 cars and 3 tracks (& 1 test track). Race customization options are also extremely limited. Multiplayer servers weren't working for me so that is literally it. The large majority of things from the original Wreckfest have not been added yet - career mode, earning points/currency from races, vehicle upgrades/customization, most vehicles/tracks, livery's, daily challenges etc. The UI is seemingly incomplete as well, options are missing to control stuff like screen resolution or refresh rate in game. Race replay/playback mode is kind of a nightmare to use. Now I don't have issues with bankrolling a tech demo to get a company off the ground, but Bugbear is largely owned by THQ so I'm confused why such an early release was thought to be necessary. From the available info the actual full game release is an entire year away and it shows. That all being said, the engine is QUITE GOOD. Love the new engine/suspension damage system and racing is better then ever. Kind wished I would have just waited for a more complete version to be available though. This level of demo is something that would have been free in the past. I could see paying like $10 or something but again, I am puzzled why they want $24 for it. One should consider it more of a year in advance pre-order rather than a real game at the moment. Once the game has more actual content and issues fixed I would love to make an updated review. Wreckfest 1 is one of my most played games on steam so I eagerly await the development of 2.

DISCLAIMER This is a chance for wreckers to drive an early (!) version of the game. For anybody who is expecting a fully-fledged, perfectly optimized game with several modes, dozens of tracks and vehicles, as well as an extensive career mode, please consider buying once we are releasing the 1.0 version of the game.

So I'm so happy that they updated the game to prevent crashes. However on my system the update fixed the main menu crashes, but I still cant race or do anything with the game.

More than Early Access, feel like a tech demo. The gameplay is nice, but not enough content to be calified as a "game". This Early Access trend, without clear times and roadmaps is becoming an issue. Refunded.

The Camera controls in this game are the worst thing ever, I thought maybe they would fix them since wreckfest 1 but they have not so I'll be refunding.

Too little content for the price. The bones are there... But that's it, only the bones. Even the bots are named bot 1, bot 2, bot 3... The first game is still best if you want a destruction derby kind of game. Game returned for the moment but definitely will buy again later.

I love it, all the Negative reviews seem to focus on lack of content, I remember playing the first game in early access and it had 1 track but the final product ended up being awesome and this early release is way better than that, the physics , graphics and game-play are all improved, some people have no patience and want the game to be loaded with content from the outset for £20 quid, Let Bugbear do their thing, they know how to make the best Demolition derby style games, frickin loved Flatout 1 and 2, Oh and the wreckfest community was one of the best, If you don't like early access hold your horses and pay more for the 1.0 release in a year or two whilst I rack up killer lap times and skills.
