I simply can't recommend Sultan's game in its current state. 1001 Nights was my first book, I learned to read with it when I was a kid. Years later, I started to learn english and immediately asked my parents to buy the english version of the book --- and by the way, my second book was about the 12 labours of Hercules. For a gameplay that is 20% choices, 80% narration and reading about the consequences of your actions, Sultan's Game starts with a somewhat acceptable quality, but shortly later descends into complete gibberish. Yes, you can have an overal grasp of what is happening in certain scenes "contextually", yes you can 100% beat the game --- but in the same way you would be able to comprehend the writings of a 15 yo student with english below the average --- stilted, lacking flourish and with parts bordering a level of nonsense that you would think its probably an intentional prank. The stories told by Scheherazade were all about stylistic charm that exhuded a wrapping mistique, but the english translation of Sultan's game botched so hard that I lost the desire to continue playing. The english translation managed to be both playable and unplayable at the same time. Banana banana, potato potato, banatato, taternana, ponanotatobana. Another problem is how repetitive the text for daily occurrences can be thanks to the lack of iterations. The game itself is very interesting with multiple outcomes, hidden routes, events, characters, and you can do a LOT of stuff that is completely messed up and morally wrong like enslaving orphans or selling them, but I unfortunately wasn't able to enjoy most of it. I just wish I could still refund the game to buy it later with a proper translation. It's also worth of mention that the UI is beautiful, but messy. Recent patches have improved it a bit, but later on it can get quite confusing since your deck will be filled with 50+ cards that you can choose to solve events, plus several gear pieces that you can equip on characters to increase their stats.

this game is fun, and i’m enjoying it, but the english translation is so poor that i can’t recommend it in its current state, especially not for the price it’s at. i could forgive the frequent misspellings and grammatical errors, but what’s harder to look past is some of the sentences being so lost in translation that you can’t even figure out what is trying to be said. there are parts of the game i simply do not understand because the explanations make no sense in english. the translations are incredibly literal and read like they were done by google translate. again, it’s a fun game, but until a human is hired to do the translations it’s not worth the price it’s at. if translation errors don’t bother you then consider getting it when it’s on sale

I purchased this game partially because of a review saying it's rich in plot with moral struggles, dark but not without humanity. No, not true. After hours of playing I'd really like a refund if I could. The UI doesn't respect the player's time, the play-through is very repetitive, but the far-worse part is despite some reviews claim that sex is one good part of the game, there's not as much sex in the game as raping, and that's the "appeal" they are talking about (The protagonist gets raped too, LOL). Many side stories and endings (which it doesn't have too many) require the protagonist to use carnality card in certain ways and all lead to not-at-all spicy descriptions (only plain texts, no details, no images). Some plots: the protagonist being choked to near death/beaten with whips in sex, being f**ked to need to go see a doctor by wife, rape hostages, rape an ugly noble man in public, rape a young girl in other routes adopted daughter. Again, the game is repetitive, the player is required and encouraged to go through plots like those. There's a long chain of stories in which you have to marry off a woman in your team to a man she has never known in order to let her and you kill a dragon (the only way to reach certain endings). There's a lot of dialogues from her families saying she's a woman, woman is too weak to do that, they hate being women, and you can confidently tell which side the developers are on from the development listed above with a thin veil of mask. Also the game depicted China to be the heaven the characters should flee to. Didn't expect to see a real place name there, thought the developers would come up with a fictional name.

Great game 10/10. The game review is mixed because it’s been bombarded by homophobic Chinese reviewers. Apparently you can romance Faris in the game but the Chinese gamers don’t like that. Avoid the Chinese community and just enjoy the game.

No female protagonist :( All these narrative possibilities, but none of them contain protagonist to be a woman. A male-centric game that mandates player identification with a male protagonist, enforcing the trope of women as inferior and hypersexualized.

The game starts with a short, easy to understand tutorial, then opens up into the real game, which shares none of the mechanics and has no instructions. The gameplay goes as follows: You're given a number of character and item pieces that fit into slots in the games board, the number of slots is very limited so you just do what you can with what you have. A turn passes and the game spits some Engrish flavor text at you. Your turn ends and either you die or more slots open. Repeat. My first game I drew a conquest card and the game kept urging me to use it immediately or I would die. The only place I could slot the card was the Sultan's chamber, which causes you to die. My second game I drew Extravgance, and I had 7 turns to use it. I couldn't find any slot to use it, so on the final day I asked the game's "help advisor" and it for some reason opened up a place for me to slot the card, but it would cost me 20 gold, which I did not have so I died. So over all, ¯\(ツ)/¯ If this game makes sense to you, cool.

Don't believe the review percentage, there's an ongoing review-bombing campaign by some Chinese guys. This game deserves 90% positive if not more. The art is great, the cycle of tension as you draw a challenge and try to solve it in 7 days makes for a good gameplay loop. The writing is not exceptional but solid, with bonus points for it being a translation from Chinese. The music is nice. The primary gameplay is a turn-based time/resource management. I saw it being compared to Cultist Simulator, but Citizen Sleeper might be closer for those familiar - the game bears resemblance to both. Every day you have some problems and opportunities popping up, and you need to solve them before they expire, potentially bringing adverse consequences. With the main one - the Sultan Card, demanding you Kill, Fuck, Conquer or Waste Riches On someone or something matching the required rank of difficulty and importance. You have 7 days to do that, or it's Game Over. The game plays as a meta-progression rogue-like, where you're almost guaranteed to lose sooner or even sooner, with special currency used to buy upgrades like higher starting stats, more followers, some quality-of-life improvements, etc. Overall, I'm still only starting with it, 5 hours barely scratches the story lines you can follow, not even talking about winning the game.

It's very pretty, and which makes it a pity that they forgot to include a game. In short, it's more visual storytelling and not enough puzzle and challenge for me. But you may feel differently - try it. It's cheap and you can refund it if you hate it. I love the game's art style, and clearly someone spent some time on creating a unified artistic vision, which is something I appreciate in any game. The art is also undeniably sexy without tipping into the prurient. There are art pieces in this game that would go well on a wall for someone with that sort of taste. But the gameplay is more of a storytelling prosthesis than any sort of typical challenge. While I don't think a game has to be a standard fare of objective, puzzle/problem, and reward, games that don't have any challenge in them are very difficult for me to enjoy.

超级超级大好评！demo完了40+小时后马不停蹄众筹支持了。正式版优化了部分UI，前期支线也更丰富了，非常开心~ 昨晚玩了一阵子结果回过神都凌晨4点，还是和之前一样上头。 推荐给喜欢密教模拟器的混邪玩家，不过我个人认为剧情要更有趣一些，没有现实倒计时任务和可以时光倒流一整天这两点也更人性化。 感兴趣的玩家不要被节奏影响了。游戏的剧情自由度是真的高，你想混乱还是想忠于妻子都是可行的。看不惯的人有n多种方式可以直接或者间接干掉。玩家纵欲的对象也基本包含了所有性向xp伦理关系。反dei是反强行为了多元清单塞的降智违和剧情和恶意丑化审美。苏丹的游戏这样认真打磨符合世界观的剧情，美术牛逼，自由度高的作品值得被称赞！我也希望国产游戏能够更加百花齐放，行行出精品。

I’ve been looking forward to this game ever since the demo I spent over 20 hours playing – so I was surprised about the amount of negative reviews. Turns out it's review-bombing by a group of homophobic Chinese gamers who are raging about an optional(!) same-sex relationship. Which is frankly absurd – not only because the story branch is completely avoidable and very minor, but because this game is full of dark themes and making morally complex/grey choices, including but not limited to murder (even family members), slavery, general cruelty, exploitation and so on. So a minor same-sex relationship shouldn't be the reason to get on a moral high horse. The game itself is 10/10 and I don't say that often. It improved massively since the demo and is well worth the price. The devs have added new mechanics, improved the UI (the cards are still a bit chotic tho) and the English translation is much smoother. Do mind the description, the game is dark and blood-minded and probably not for everyone but for those of us who enjoy these themes, it's extremely gripping and really makes you ask the question how far you are willing to go. The gameplay of Sultan's Game is unique - the only game it reminds me of is Cultist Simulator but both of these games have different strengths - Cultist Simulator has amazing prose but Sultan's Game has a deeper narrative where all your decisions have consequences and you can shape who your protagonist is. The loop is genuinely addictive and the random generation as well as the scale of the game (1.000.000 words) provides a massive amount of replayablity. PS: Props to the devs for following their creative vision and wording their decision so respectfully!

Bought this for the Sultan and the many sexy art I've seen people draw of him. Stayed for the satisfying gameplay and the sexy sexy Sultan.

It's not a bad game per se, but there's a lot of routine that is not routine *enough* so to speak, Every turn requires constant micromanaging of events and on replays you are stuck with an explosion of complexity that is at the same time distinctly not new that you cannot automate due to difference of resources you have. It's not a gameplay loop every turn as much as it is gameplay hard stop. It never really felt quite as tiring in cultist sim. On multiple occasions I save and quitted simply because I knew that I would have to assign my followers in yet another non interesting but distinct fashion to not see anything new but still having to multiple click through it every time.
