A short, nice cleaning game that can provide some nice relaxation time.
Easy to beat and get all the achievements as well, and for a good price!
That being said, is a bit morally questionable to sink an entire ship into the ocean, even if they're the bad guys, lmao

This game is chill and that's about all I really enjoyed about it.
In no particular order:
-The game is short. As in, you'll probably beat it and get all of the achievements (without even trying) within an hour.
-There's no way to disable the pixel filter. I really wish developers would stop using these things. If you want to make pixel art, make pixel art. Stop slapping a filter on 3D geometry! This game would look 10x more charming without it.
-The sound is...there.
-The physics are wonky. Not the worst I've ever encountered, but I've also seen better. Near the end, I managed to somehow get a piece of garbage stuck under the water surface and therefore there was an offset when trying to push it with the ship. Took a lot of finangling to get it recycle.
-The final boss doesn't fit thematically. Just so out of place.
-You apparently can't get all the upgrades? Why even show them then?

Your ship is slow no matter how many upgrades you get because its solar powered. The end "boss" is an oil ship thats about twice your speed (because its not solar powered), in the end, you sink the ship, killing 50 crew members and causing an oil spill that will gradually pollute the ocean over 50 years.

Spilled is a very short cute game by a solo developer who lives in a boat.
Your job is to use your little boat to clean up spilled oil and capture other litter in the water. Once you're filled to capacity, you can recycle your oil and litter at a recycling plant. With the money obtained you can upgrade to receive a wider scoop, more speed or more storage space.
This is a very chill, calm game which is satisfying to play. Who doesn't enjoy making the water cleaner for the marine life in it? You also rescue 16 animals along the way. There is even a big 'boss' to beat at the end.
Graphics are basic but cute and colourful. I particularly liked the water changing colour and marine life appearing! Music was jaunty and not overwhelming. Controls are WASD, but you can take your time and there are no speed tests. The game is designed to be relaxing and undemanding.
Money from this game goes to WDC (Whale and Dolphin Conservation). So do your bit for the planet!
I'm hoping that the dev adds more levels in the future from the money of this game. One hour was too short and just didn't whet my appetite! I wouldn't be surprised if a bigger developer copies this game as it is a popular concept.
Great effort for a new dev! Makes me want to run out and buy a boat of my own and do this!! Who will join me? 8/10

Spilled! is a short and cozy exploration game that promotes its thoughtful environmentalist message through very catchy and laid-back gameplay.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3455302311
As you command a sea cleaning ship, you navigate through polluted waters to collect oil spills and other hazardous waste, carefully scooping them up to transport them to a nearby recycling center. With the coins received for your work, you can choose to upgrade one of the following parts of the ship: enhance the motor to boost its speed, expand the oil tank to hold more waste before returning to the recycling center, or improve the scoop mechanism at the front of the ship to increase its reach and collect more waste in one go.
Spilled! is divided into seven distinct areas that unlock one by one as you fully clean the previous zone, with each new area gradually increasing in size. Once you’ve completed all seven of them, there’s a final stage with a uniquely creative boss fight. As you progress through the game, new mechanics are introduced with each new area, allowing you to spray water to clean on-shore oil spills, extinguish fires, blanket arid landscapes with snow, and use a magnet to retrieve sunken oil barrels from the depths.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3455302214
Spilled! takes roughly one hour and a half to complete, including earning all achievements. To unlock them, you’ll need to fully clean each area, rescue all animals trapped in oil spills, and complete a few additional side objectives. Fortunately, none of the achievements are missable since you can revisit any area at any time. Moreover, after finishing the game, you have the option to reset a specific area and start cleaning it again.
The game provides a profound sense of satisfaction as you help restore the ocean to its former pristine beauty. Initially, the polluted water is depicted in a dark, opaque purple hue. However, as you progress in cleaning it, the water gradually becomes clearer and more transparent, revealing the vibrant marine life and lush vegetation on the ocean floor. The friendly, colorful pixel art and the chill soundtrack further enhance this experience.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3455302172
Overall, Spilled! is a delightful and uplifting game that I highly recommend to anyone seeking a relaxing experience. Its calming atmosphere and inspiring environmental message make it a worthwhile play. While our everyday efforts to improve the world might feel small in the grand scheme of things, this game offers a satisfying way to make us feel that even these small actions can have a meaningful and positive impact on the environment.

$6 for 74 minutes of game play is steep. like really steep. My general philosophy is 1 hour of game play per dollar will make the game worth it to me. This was very far from meeting that criteria. With that being said, I am down with supporting the dev and their interesting story, and I'm hopeful for updates in the future. It's clunky for sure. and it definitely screams "first game" energy. But if you're willing to look past that, its a cute little game and I was in desperate need of a distraction today. this provided me with an hour of distraction.

I thought I was in for a laid-back, cozy cleanup game, and for the most part, it is. There’s something weirdly satisfying about gliding around, scooping up oil spills, and watching the water go from “oh no” to “ah, much better.”

I've been looking forward to this since it was first announced and played the demo when that was put out but I'm really disappointed now that I've played the whole game. I like the game but I can't recommend it, it's just far too short and simple even for such a low price.
It's a very pretty game with okay gameplay but it's extremely short, if you've played the demo you've basically played the whole game. I completed it in 56 minutes getting all 13 achievements, I also wrote half of this review while playing the game which made my playtime a higher than it really was by probably ~10 minutes.
The game has very strong messaging about pollution and its impact on nature but the 'ending' really threw me off and I don't understand why it ends the way it does. It really conflicts with the rest of the game and its message in a way that it just doesn't make sense for the developer to have added it. I think it would have been better if it began and finished with just cleaning oil.
Spoilers for the final level if you care;
In the final level you use the water cannon to sink a big oil tanker - which, for a game with the kind of environmental messaging that this has, seems like a very strange change of pacing and really gives off mixed messages. The whole game is about cleaning up the rivers and oceans and saving nature and stuff but then you go and commit literal eco-terrorism, therefore polluting the waters even more than before. And after that you just go home and sleep like nothing happened.
The gameplay is incredibly basic but it is still satisfying and enjoyable, at least for most of the game. It almost entirely consists of driving your little boat around sucking up oil spills in the water which you then deposit at a bigger boat, that rewards you with coins which you can spend on one of three upgrades; faster movement speed, wider sucker/collector and bigger oil capacity. Clearing a certain percentage of the oil spills on each level unlocks the path to the next level and each level has an animal which act purely as collectables.
There are 8 levels and most of them introduce something new for you to do.
The first thing added is collecting plastic and stuff from the water which you do by pushing the collector into it and taking it to the deposit boat. Three of the levels also have a 'quest' where you have to use this collector to push an object a certain spot, like taking a beachball to another boat.
Next you get a water cannon on the front of your boat which you use to blast oil off the rocks/beaches, you have to then use this same mechanic to put out fires, and again in the final areas to... make snow? I don't know really understand that last one.
You also get a magnet crane which allows you to pick up barrels from the river bed, which you can deposit for a coin reward.
These new 'abilities' add just enough to the gameplay to make it more fun as you progress but you are still cleaning up more and more oil on every level so it doesn't change anything in any significant way. It's a bit too much on the final level, there's significantly more stuff to clean than in any of the previous levels and it just becomes tedious at that point.

Pretty cool little game. Made me commit a bit of eco terrorism in the end but it's okay.
