My issue is the ridiculous racism in a settlers-lite themed factory game! It was a kind of okay sort of boring game in beginning (it took me 20 hours to get through the awfully written tutorial). But then you get to a real campaign mission and there's natives? Like who says that? It's not even a historical game like Anno where maaaybe I'd let it go. But no there's a full-on native/settler thing that is seriously cringey. I don't want to play it and I can't believe I wasted this much time trying to understand it. Let me ammend my review to address what Thomas has said in his response....inlcuding part of the text from my request for a refund.... "Hi! I've requested a refund of this prior and was denied and I think if you reread the text of that message I think you'll understand what I was trying to say....sure the gameplay isn't the best...but what I object to is the racist imperialist notion that you colonise an island with an existing population that it is your role to inhabit and conform them to your system imposed on the island. This is historically offensive on so many levels, and I've NEVER seen a similar game such as ubisoft's anno series do this in this way without some HEAVY contexualisation of the what was happening. Make no mistake....this is a HEAVY presentation of imperialist practices that is present with zero context explain what is happening. It's not ok. It's not ok for children to play again where this idea is even passively presented. The developer has responded to me in my review stating this and said they've changed the wording. The WORDING is not the problem. The problem is that this imperialist, racist, seperate but equal practice is employed and normalised as part of the core game loop. This is unnacceptable." You need to understand that it is NOT OK to represent this without explanation or context. You have STRUCTURALLY in your game created an imperialist colonial structure which is by nature inherently racist. You can NOT present a situation in which a group of people arrive and take over an inhabited island, and subject the indigenous people of that island with the structure of the colonisers and have it play it out OK. It's not possible.....ESPECIALLY as you've done which is do play it out as a pure mechanic. This is actually EVEN WORSE. If you want to fix your game....changing the wording is not the way, you must remove this mechanic. Thanks for you attention.
